Hamilton, NY facts

-The village is built on what used to be swamp land
-Average of 80" of snow/year
-A fire in 1895 burned a large portion of the 'downtown' area and many of the buildings were rebuilt in a few short months, which is why many of the existing buildings have a very uniform aesthetic
-Wind energy is a large part of the upstate new york economy- in 2010 wind power provided 2.0% of New York's power but it has the capacity to produce 52% of the state's energy
